Antique Veenloo Sewing Machine
We’ve recently received pictures of an old hand cranked sewing machine with a veneered wooden case. The only written information is the word “VEENLOO” which is incorporated within gold colored artistic scrolling on the side. A reader and the owner of the machine, David, would like to know who the manufacturer is.
Clearly the machine is in fantastic shape and David was kind enough to provide some excellent photos to help us identify it. Any ideas? Please send us a message and let us know if you have any information on this amazing looking sewing machine. It’s a mystery to us as well! You can click on either image to enlarge them.
A Google search on Veenloo results in a spelling correction recommendation of “Venlo”. Clearly the spelling on the machine contains two e’s and two o’s.
Venlo is a municipality and a city in the southeastern Netherlands. It is situated in the province of Limburg.
Veenloo apparently has Dutch origins as well. There is a museum named Veenloo located in Veenendaal, Netherlands.

No markings, stamps, (…on the bottom) whatsoever. Had the machine about 25 years of which the majority of the time has been in the loft. Bought it on a whim at an antique fair because of the beautiful condition of the box and the mother-of-pearl inlay on the base of the machine. Thought it would be nice to know a little more about it. – David
We would like to thank David for providing these wonderful images. Hopefully someone will find this page and help us solve the mystery!
